Review by hotel critic
The Angel, a charming 16th-century coaching inn, effortlessly balances history and comfort in Guildford. My room, Lord Nelson, featured a spacious layout with both a bedroom and a separate sitting area, comfortably appointed for relaxation with a flat-screen TV and tea-making facilities. The location is remarkable—a stone's throw from local shops and restaurants, ideal for those wishing to explore the town. What stood out during my stay was the attentive service; upon recognizing my mobility needs, the receptionist promptly offered a more accessible room. The hotel also provides convenient luggage storage, allowing guests to enjoy the area unencumbered. While it isn't the cheapest option in town, the blend of historical charm and valuable amenities makes the Angel a sensible choice for history enthusiasts and visitors alike.
